Arrive at Europe's best train station
Located right in the heart of the city, Leipzig Central Station offers immediate insights into urban life and serves as the perfect starting point for exploring every corner of Leipzig. Thanks to the modern City Tunnel, which has connected the station directly underground with the city centre since 2013, visitors can quickly and effortlessly reach the city centre and the neighbouring regions. With the completion of the City Tunnel, the station has transformed from a traditional terminus into a dynamic through station that connects the city with both regional and national destinations. Directly in front of the central station, there are additional connections to local public transport such as buses and trams.
Europe's largest terminus station
Stay inside the building for a moment longer before heading into the vibrant city centre. After all, you are in Europe's largest terminal station, whose magnificent building with its monumental façade is considered one of Europe's most beautiful railway stations. Leipzig Main Station impresses not only with its grand architecture, but also offers a lively shopping world across three levels. At the Shopping Centre in the Main station, travellers will find everything their hearts desire in over 140 shops.

Arrive easily from every direction
Leipzig is a transport hub with a long tradition. The trade fair and trading centre that grew at the crossroads of two military and trade routes now brings together transport links from all directions more than ever before.
Thanks to its location on the A9, A14 and A38 motorways, Leipzig is ideally connected to Germany's nationwide motorway network. You can reach the city centre via the following exits:

Leipzig is growing – and so is the need for parking spaces.
Finding an on-street parking space right in the city centre is a real stroke of luck. You need less luck with a central multi-storey car park space. In the heart of the centre, Leipzig has several multi-storey car parks that are connected to the parking information system.

You also have a total of six Park & Ride sites available to you. They are spread across the city, located on key access routes and directly connected to Leipzig's very well-developed transport network. Four of them are in the west of Leipzig, one is in the north and another car park is in the south-east.
The best part: All Park & Ride sites are open 24/7 and are also free of charge.

In addition, cycle superhighways are planned into the Leipzig region, and parking in the city is becoming increasingly attractive for electric cars.

Traveling by long-distance bus
Convenient and affordable
Long-distance buses now connect many important cities in Germany. They are also a relaxed and affordable way for you to get to Leipzig.
The new, state-of-the-art long-distance bus terminal is located on the east side of Leipzig Central Station, making it perfectly connected to the city center. Some long-distance buses also serve the Leipzig Trade Fair and Leipzig/Halle Airport. The easiest way to book bus tickets is online with the respective provider.
Tip: With many providers, you get better rates the earlier you book a trip. So plan your journey in advance and compare the different providers.
Ready for Takeoff
Traveling by plane
Airport Leipzig/Halle is located at the Schkeuditzer Kreuz interchange (A9, A14), 18 km from Leipzig and 23 km from Halle.
There are direct flights to and from major German cities Frankfurt am Main and Stuttgart, as well as international metropolises such as Vienna. Holiday flights to Palma de Mallorca, the Canary Islands, Greece, Egypt and many other destinations also depart regularly from Airport Leipzig/Halle. Numerous other European and international destinations can be reached via the German hubs Frankfurt am Main and Munich or Berlin Brandenburg Airport. Thanks to the fast ICE connection between Berlin and Leipzig, you will reach your destination in just 1 hour and 14 minutes.
Once you have landed in Leipzig, the S-Bahn takes you in 12 minutes to the city centre or in 6 minutes to the Leipzig Exhibition Centre.
The Red Bull Arena is located very close to the city center. On the one hand, this is a major advantage; on the other hand, it means that there are not enough parking spaces available in the immediate vicinity for sold-out events.
So that you can arrive relaxed and on time to cheer on your team at kickoff, it’s best to use public transportation.

Getting around by bike
Straight through the centre and into the green
Leipzig is the city of short distances and is waiting for you to explore it. A bike is the perfect choice for this. For example, you can take a bike tour through the Leipzig Riverside Forest − Europe’s largest contiguous alluvial forest. Or you can cycle along the water. There are plenty of waterside cycle paths in "Little Venice", as the Pleiße, Parthe and White Elster rivers flow right through the city here.
You can also start a trip to the Leipzig Region directly from the city centre. Grab a bike and take the S-Bahn to the area around Leipzig. Numerous cycle routes await you in the Leipzig New Lakeland and the Saxon Castle Country and Heathland . Discover the landscape along the Mulde Cycle Path or the Elbe Cycle Path, tour the cycle paths through Saxon Fruit Country or discover the traces of former lignite mining in the New Lakeland.
