Spring awakening in Leipzig

At last, the days are getting longer again, and here and there the colourful spring flowers are pushing their heads through the still barren ground. The sun appears more often, the meadows turn a lush green and the young buds on the trees reveal: Spring is coming to Leipzig!

The Water City awakens from its winter slumber and makes many activities possible again. How about a canoe tour on the Karl Heine Canal, a relaxing walk in Clara Zetkin Park along the White Elster, or the first visit to an outdoor café to recharge your vitamin D stores? The wild garlic in Leipzig’s floodplain forest spreads its familiar spring scent, and the sun tempts you to go on cycling tours in the Leipzig Region. And Easter is just around the corner – all of this makes spring one of the most beautiful times of the year.

Experience Leipzig and the region in spring and let yourselves be enchanted when nature is in full bloom!

A long day of shopping is simply part of spring. Along Grimmaische Straße, Petersstraße, and Hainstraße in Leipzig’s city center, one shop follows the next. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, a visit to the Höfe am Brühl shopping center is worthwhile, offering a relaxed and dry place to shop and enjoy good food.

But even away from Leipzig’s classic shopping streets, it’s worth taking a stroll: If you prefer something more unique, you’ll feel right at home on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. Here you’ll find a great variety of shopping options as well as numerous cafés, restaurants, and bars for an extended break in between. You can also enjoy a relaxed stroll along Karl-Heine-Straße in the alternative Plagwitz district and let the first warm rays of sunshine shine on your face while enjoying a tasty drink at one of the many outdoor seating areas.
