Wave-Gotik-Treffen - What you need to know

  • The Wave-Gotik-Treffen has been held every year since 1992 at Pentecost in Leipzig and recently attracted 19.000 visitors.

  • At about 50 locations throughout Leipzig Events take place within the framework of the WGT; these include the festival grounds in the agra and Clubs, museums, churches, cinemas and the Leipzig Opera.

  • The musical diversity ranges from Dark Wave, Gothic, Post Punk, Dark Indie, Classical, Medieval and Folk to Metal and Electro/EBM/Industrial.

Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig Rosental

Our Klassik airleben thanks the Leipzig Gewandhausorchester every year to end of the Gewandhaus season with his audience. two evenings in a row the world-famous symphony orchestra plays two Grand Concertos under the open sky and invites all Leipzig residents and visitors to Leipzig.

Free Classical Music at Sunset

More than 60.000 people listened in amazement to the outstanding open-air music of the Gewandhausorchesters, the one with the two Klassik airleben-concerts heralded the end of the 2025 concert season. Under the direction of Franz Welser-Möst, selected works by Johann Strauss II were performed on the occasion of his 200th birthday, as well as by Max Bruch and Manuel Ponce, which the Leipzig Rosental flooded. The cozy concert was visually underscored by the setting sun.

Leipzig Chamber Music Festival

Hidden messages in music were the focus of the Leipzig Chamber Music Festival Con spirito 2025. Under the motto “Revealed” were from 30. August to 7. September 2025 Martin Helmchen (piano), Marie-Elisabeth Hecker (cello), Antje Weithaas, and Tobias Feldmann (violin), as well as the festival's artistic director Peter Bruns (cello), among others, were featured. Music was played in the salons and workshops of Mendelssohn, Bach, Grieg, Wagner, and the Schumanns.

Con spirito, organized by the Schumann-Haus Leipzig (Gregor Nowak, organizational director), takes place annually in Leipzig's European cultural heritage sites instead: Old Nikolai School, Bach Museum, Gewandhaus, Grieg Meeting Place, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, Mendelssohn House, Schumann House and St. Thomas Church.

The Leipzig Jazz Days are one of the most traditional jazz festivals in Germany and are an integral part of the Leipzig autumn festival season. Since their founding in 1976, they have brought together national and international jazz greats, innovative newcomers as well as specially curated projects. The festival presents an impressive stylistic range From classic modern jazz to avant-garde and electronic music to cross-genre formats, it always follows an artistic motto that opens up new perspectives on the world of jazz.

The concerts take place at numerous venues, including renowned houses such as the Leipzig Opera and the Leipzig Theater, but also alternative cultural venues such as the UT Connewitz and the Moritzbastei. The festival is organized by Jazzclub LeipzigIn addition to the main program, the Jazz Days also offer formats for promoting young talent, such as the awarding of the Leipzig Young Jazz Prize, as well as special offers for families and young music enthusiasts.

The SPUTNIK SPRING BREAK is an annual music festival taking place on the Pentecost weekend on the Pouch peninsula near Bitterfeld. Presented by the radio station MDR Sputnik, every early summer, celebrations and dancing take place at the popular Goitzschesee. The music acts range across genres, from rock to hip-hop to electronic music.

Up to 25.000 visitors are expected each year to see the festival season in the region to open.

Highfield Festival

Indie Rock in the Leipzig Region

The festival has its origins at the Hohenfelden reservoir near Erfurt. But since 2010 it has been taking place at Störmthaler See near Leipzig. Highfield, which takes place annually in August, has now become one of the most important indie rock festivals established in the new federal states. Around 30.000 music enthusiasts come together to celebrate for three days.
