  • On the trail of the Battle of the Nations 1813 in Leipzig
There are numerous associations around the world whose members draw attention to the Battle of the Nations 1813 with events and publications. In 2013, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary, various events were held in and around Leipzig to commemorate the Battle of Leipzig. A wide variety of association members and guests from Germany and abroad stayed at our Wachauer Pension Völkerschlacht 1813 to attend the various celebrations. Our staff have been welcoming guests from near and far not just since 2013, but all the time. Not without reason, as our guesthouse is located on historic ground. From October 16 to 19, 1813, battles raged at the gates of the city of Leipzig, around the Wachau manor. It was the decisive Battle of the Nations in Leipzig, as a result of which the French emperor and general Napoleon lost his claim to European power.

The former Wachau manor has been the location of our Pension Völkerschlacht 1813 since 1991. The conversion of the former manor stables and the adjoining barn enabled the new seminar building with additional overnight rooms to be opened in 2006. Naturally, we have also thematized the Battle of Leipzig in the interior design of our guesthouse. In the reception area as well as in the corridors, paintings, maps of regimental and battle orders and photos of the battle depiction on the occasion of the 200th anniversary were used as design elements. In addition, 16 rooms in the new building have been named after officers from the Battle of the Nations. For example, visitors can stay in the room of the French Marshal Oudinot, the French General of the Cavalry Kellermann or Napoleon's adjutant and brother-in-law J. Murat. Our Pension Völkerschlacht 1813 has 29 double and single rooms, furnished with great attention to detail, with a total of 57 beds. The breakfast room is particularly lovingly furnished and offers visitors a beautiful view of the former manor park with its old trees, the monumental stone sarcophagus of the Quandt family from 1806 and the last historic "Leipzig Mill Gate".

In view of its immediate proximity to Lake Markkleeberg, which is located just outside the city of Leipzig, our Pension Völkerschlacht 1813 is an ideal starting point for a visit to Leipzig with a wide range of cultural and sporting activities as well as the newly developing Leipziger Neuseenland. A comprehensive service, such as the organization of tours, bike rental or ticket sales rounds off the existing offer for holidaymakers and guests. Curious?

The staff at Pension Völkerschlacht 1813 look forward to your visit. You are "warmly welcome" at any time of the year.
