Pittlerwerke

Gallery
Museum/art collection
Formerly known as a manufacturer of machine tools, the Pittlerwerke now serve as an exhibition space for contemporary art.
Once known for its machine tool production, the Pittlerwerke in the north-western Leipzig district of Wahren has now become a work of art in its own right. Renovation work in recent years has ensured that a large part of the building complex can be used again. Similar to the Baumwollspinnerei and the Kunstkraftwerk, contemporary artists from all over the world are approached and invited to the works as part of regular events.

From 19 April to 9 July 2023, the exhibition "DIMENSIONS - Digital Art ● since 1859" with 60 works by international artists will enliven the 10,000 m² exhibition space of the Pittlerwerke.

Digitalization has found its way into all areas of life, including art. Artists all over the world are creating new digital spaces and narratives. The DIMENSIONS exhibition shows that this is not a new trend, as art has always been shaped by new technology and used as a means of expression. Technological change is a constant in the history of art.

The Pittlerwerke, as a former industrial site, are themselves testimony to an era in which technological change revolutionized social life.
