Terms of Use for the Digital Photo Archive
Here you will find a selection of over 100 images from Leipzig and the surrounding region. The uploaded photos are the property of the respective photographers. Reproduction of the photo archive or significant parts of it – including in the form of link lists – is not permitted. We have designed the photo archive to be very user-friendly, giving you several ways to find the image you are looking for.
You have the option to search within many categories in the photo archive. While “Attractions” shows the typical sights of Leipzig, you will also find unique motifs under “Details and City Views.” Are you still missing a winter image for your editorial piece? In the corresponding category, you will find suitable photos available for download. Or use the search function: Click on “All Categories” and then enter your search term.
You can view the photo in two versions: as a preview image or as a detailed version. When you click on a photo, you will see the detailed image view. From here, you can "download the photo" and save it. Under the info icon in the detail view, you will find the required photo credit in the photo description. You can also download the photo via the preview image by using the download icon on the picture. Below the preview image, as well as after the download, you will see the title of the photo, which also includes the photo credit.
All images may be used free of charge for private and editorial purposes in connection with tourism reporting about Leipzig. This also applies to their use in editorial online articles. The prerequisite for this is the naming of the photographer, see the next point.
Furthermore, all tour operators may use the images free of charge for printing in travel catalogues as part of promoting trips to Leipzig and the region. This also applies to displaying the travel catalogue as a PDF file on the internet. In the latter case, it must be ensured that the photographer’s name appears in the image, next to the image, below the image, or as a mouse-over.
Use of the photos on social networks such as Facebook or Pinterest is not permitted unless the photographers give their written consent. Please contact them directly if needed.
The image user is in all cases required to provide the image source in accordance with Section 13 of the German Copyright Act (UrhG). A condition for the royalty-free use of the images from the digital photo archive is that, when published, the photographer’s name is printed in full, e.g., “Michael Bader”. It is not permitted to provide a collective source when printing several images, e.g., “LTM” or “City of Leipzig”. Furthermore, each individual image must be attributable to the respective photographer. Special agreements may be possible after consultation with the press office of LTM GmbH. Contact: presse@ltm-leipzig.de.
The use of the photos free of charge in commercial publishing products or other publications for resale purposes is not permitted, as Leipzig Tourism and Marketing does not hold the rights to pass the photos on to third parties for commercial use. This applies, among other things, to their use in travel guides, DVDs, CD-ROMs, calendars, posters, displays, postcards, souvenirs, advertisements, composings, image brochures, etc. If you wish to make commercial use of the photos, you can request and purchase the usage rights from the photographers.
All motifs contained in the photo archive are available to you in the download version as reproduction‑ready JPG files (300 dpi) in high resolution. In individual cases, custom post‑processing of the images provided as raw material may be necessary. Restoration (retouching) and other modifications may only be carried out with the consent of LTM GmbH.
In accordance with Section 25 of the Publishing Act of 19 June 1901 (RGBI., p. 217), a complimentary copy containing the published image material must be provided to Leipzig Tourism and Marketing for every print publication, unsolicited and free of charge. Locally published print media are excluded from this requirement. The copy may also be sent as a PDF file (max. 8 MB), via WeTransfer or as a download link: presse@ltm-leipzig.de.
In the event of a violation, LTM GmbH or the photographers who suffered damages may require the user to withdraw all products featuring the images at their own expense and either correct them or cease distribution entirely. In addition, LTM GmbH and the affected photographers reserve the right to claim damages. If photos are used commercially without prior agreement, the image authors or rights holders are entitled to request additional fees in line with standard market rates for image usage rights. Information on image fees is provided by the Mittelstandsgemeinschaft Foto-Marketing (MFM).
