Colditz home tower
The observation tower was built in 1901 on the occasion of the first Colditz local history festival in just 10 weeks. It was originally 18.70 meters high, but after the superstructure was damaged by lightning, the tower was raised to 20 meters. The Heimatturm is open to visitors on Saturdays from 13:00 and Sundays from 12:00 when the weather is fine. On a clear day, the Fichtelberg in the Erzgebirge and the Völkerschlachtdenkmal in Leipzig are visible. The operators offer hot and cold food, cakes, ice cream and hot and cold drinks during opening hours.
