Colored yarn plants
The unmistakable Buntgarnwerke building was constructed between 1887 and 1895 according to the plans of architects Ottomar Jummel and Pfeiffer & Händel. The reason for the construction was the increasing importance of trade in Leipzig. Even the first impression of the listed building complex conveys the splendour and prestige of the industrial palace of the time.
The clinker brick façade in particular has a high recognition value, with its extremely attractive red brick architecture and decorative light-coloured natural stone structures. The two-storey bridge made of glass and iron, which connects the buildings on both sides of the White Elster, is just as distinctive. Today, the Buntgarnwerke on the banks of the Weiße Elster are home to numerous lofts and furnished apartments.
