NABU Nature Conservation Station Schloss Priessnitz

The NABU nature conservation station is located in the historic Prießnitz manor, an important cultural monument in the Kohrener Land region. The manor, which dates back to 1740, is located in the middle of a diverse cultural landscape characterized by rolling hills, extensive forests and numerous bodies of water.

Of particular interest is the nearby Prießnitz nature reserve, a large wooded area between Borna and Geithain. The beech forest and near-natural watercourses such as the Eula and Frankenhainer Bach provide a habitat for kingfishers and the greater mouse-eared bat and are an attractive destination for nature observers.

The NABU nature conservation station in the Prießnitz manor is a contact point for volunteers and people interested in nature. An environmental library and a small exhibition provide comprehensive information about the regional flora and fauna as well as various environmental topics. The Priessnitz Forest, which is located nearby, is integrated into the environmental education program. In addition, guided excursions, lectures, project days for schoolchildren and vacation activities are organized to get visitors of all ages interested in nature conservation.
