In the middle of Borna, the Volksplatz open-air stage invites you to enjoy culture in the open air. With around 5,000 seats and Europe's largest fixed movie screen, the Volksplatz is a unique venue for unforgettable events such as concerts, comedy, summer cinema and family celebrations.
Originally built in 1933-35 as the Thingplatz for the Thing movement, the Volksplatz is one of the largest open-air stages in Central Germany. Alphaville, Matthias Reim, Howard Carpendale, Albert Hammond, Torsten Sträter, Olaf Schubert, Johann König, Oli. P, Lisa Eckhart and many more. In addition, the Leipzig Symphony Orchestra regularly performs as part of the city's "Rock in Symphony" concert series. In the summer months, you can enjoy films curated by the Volksplatzverein on the impressive 28 × 18 meter screen in the open air. The association also organizes regular family events such as Halloween, après-ski and Christmas caroling (for the first time in 2025).
