A walk along the Karl Heine Canal is a very special experience at any time of year.
Whether in the green of summer, surrounded by colorful autumn leaves, ice-covered water or full of flowers - the Karl Heine Canal is a very special highlight in the lively west of Leipzig at any time of year. The 3.3-kilometre-long canal was created artificially and invites you to take long walks along the banks, but you can also take a leisurely boat tour on Leipzig's waterways. Historic villas and modern industrial lofts will impress you on your exploration tour. Numerous quiet spots offer the ideal opportunity for a short break to relax. The steps at the Philippuskirche church are a particularly popular hotspot in summer for listening to the gentle lapping of the water and admiring the beauty of the canal.
