The Dahlen Heath is one of the most impressive landscape conservation areas in Saxony. Large forests and rich flora and fauna invite you to explore.

From the heath village of Reudnitz, in the middle of the "Reudnitzer Teichkette" nature reserve, the scenic tour leads along the G-Weg to the center of the Dahlener Heide - the hunter's oak at a 6-way spider. In memory and homage to the Saxon Elector and King of Poland, Friedrich August, a memorial column was erected in 1763 after the last court hunt. The state-approved resort of Schmannewitz is reached via the Stauchitzer Weg. The baroque village church is based on plans by the architect of the Frauenkirche in Dresden. Also worth a visit are the rural museum, the renovated post mill, the animal enclosure and the forest pool with its giant slide. The rustic restaurants with their typical heath specialties invite you to take a rest. The way back takes the passionate hiker past the pump pond in the direction of the Käthe-Kollwitz-Hütte. Finally, the "M-Weg" takes you comfortably back to Reudnitz.

Directions

The hike begins in Reudnitz in the Dahlener Heide. Along the G-path, the hiker passes the Weidenteich on the right and the Hirschteich on the left. Follow the G-path until you reach a hut at a 3,5-way junction after about 6 km. Turn left briefly onto the Altlausaer Weg, but then immediately turn right again at the fork. The path continues west and then south-west onto the Stauchitzer Weg. Hike along the Stauchitzer Weg to the Scheibenwiese. Take the Forsthaus path for a short while and walk a few meters along the S24 until you turn left onto the Alten Teichweg. On the right-hand side is the Hasendenkmal and to the hiker's left is the Alte Teich. The path leads through Schmannewitz, to the animal enclosure and over Buchaer Straße to the Waldteich with forest pool and camping. It goes north-east through the forest, past the Blauer See, towards Lattenberg. Before Lattenberg, you change to the M-path and continue until you reach the starting point in Reudnitz again.
