Hidden Leipzig: Eisenbahnstraße

If you walk down Eisenbahnstraße to house number 97, you can catch sight of the Con Han Hop. However, you can hardly see the glass store front because of all the graffiti. There are only a few sofas, chairs and pallets in the empty, unrenovated building: sufficient conditions for a mini cultural center. Readings, movie nights and lectures take place here. You can always find out what's going on when on the Facebook page. The Japanese House at Eisenbahnstraße 113b is also a project for the revitalization of vacant spaces. A group of Japanese architects, artists, urban designers and students of Japanese studies at Leipzig University regularly organize cooking evenings, vernissages, concerts and workshops.  "We eat colourfully" is the motto at the Leipziger-Kinder-Erlebnis-Restaurant. The restaurant grows its own vegetables while promoting social interaction. The meeting place not only organizes public events, but also children's birthday parties and projects for daycare centres, schools and after-school care centres.

Of course, Eisenbahnstraße doesn't just offer the best kebab, but other delicacies too! Eat delicious burgers and sip smoothies at Brothers Café before ordering a baklava to go. Next stop: the cultural pharmacy, also affectionately known as 'KuApo'. Here you can take in the stylish interior before deciding between coffee and ice cream. Children also get their money's worth and can spend their time in the children's corner. Time for a digestive walk, right? Not far from Eisenbahnstraße you will find the Café Analog.
