The agra-Park has become synonymous with the city of Markkleeberg. Far beyond the confines of the city, people immediately associate the park, as well as the former agra-Trade fair with Markkleeberg.
Enter into an English landscape garden of ever-increasing appeal to tourists! The wrought-iron gate in Raschwitzer Straße leads you through a historically representative entrance. At the end of the 19th century, the consul and newspaper publisher from Leipzig, Paul Herfurth, acquired the southern part of the land which formerly belonged to Raschwitz upon which to build his country estate. In 1896/97, he had an architect from Raschwitz, Gustav Hempel, erect a villa on the park's highest point, thus constituting its main decorative feature and dominating the area, which was similar to the "Petit Trianon" from Versailles.
