With a history stretching back over 400 years, the Botanical Garden in Leipzig is the oldest of its kind in the whole of Germany.
The Botanical Garden of Leipzig University brings together plants from the most diverse vegetation zones on earth over an area of around three hectares. These are spread over the apothecary garden, the greenhouses, the scent and touch garden and the open area of the grounds.

A special highlight is the butterfly house, where you can experience butterflies in a natural environment and up close.
School classes and kindergarten groups are also welcome in the botanical garden. For younger visitors, it offers educational activities, summer theater and guided tours.

Admission to the outdoor departments is free of charge.

- Public transportation: The nearest stop is Leipzig, Ostplatz (lines 12, 15, 60). The destination is about a 500 m walk from there.
