In February 1993, MDR moved into the listed site of the former Leipzig abattoir. The television and administration center combines renovated old buildings of the former slaughterhouse with a new building complex whose most striking component is the high-rise building. This also represents the only fixed point at which the architects break out of the given structure and do not adhere to the materials and the two-storey height extension of the surroundings.
The construction created one of the most modern television headquarters in Europe, which has since towered over the city like a giant screen. The first broadcast from the new MDR headquarters took place on May 14, 2000. As part of a studio tour, you can visit the "Media City Leipzig" with its numerous production studios.

- Public transportation: The nearest stop is Leipzig, Altenburger Str. (line 16, 70). The destination is about a 150m walk from there. Other stops in the immediate vicinity: Arthur-Hoffmann-/Richard-Lehmann-Str. or Leipzig MDR S-Bahn station.
By car: The HTWK is located in the southern part of Leipzig in the Südvorstadt district and can be reached via the B2 (Richard-Lehmann-Str.). Social Media
