Children's museum

In the Böttchergäßchen building, children from six to ten can enjoy the experience exhibition "Children do trade fairs". Here they can learn about Leipzig s eventful history and its special status as a trade fair city from their own perspective. In six themed areas, all the senses are stimulated at numerous interactive stations: goods from distant countries can be felt, weighed or guessed using an audio memory and costumes can be tried on that were tailored according to historical models. Dressed up as market women and merchants, the children can explore the Leipzig trade fair world of the 19th century and learn about old currencies as well as weights and measures. Through games and media stations, they learn more about the route of goods on the important trade routes Via Regia and Via Imperii. Even 200 years ago, fun and entertainment played an important role at the Leipzig Trade Fair, as the children are shown with historical games such as the wonder drum and gallows bowling. At the end of the tour, the guests immerse themselves from the past world of trade fairs into the present one.

The Children's Museum is part of the City History Museum and is located in the heart of Leipzig.
