House Böttchergässchen
The benefits are described under "Good to know / Price information".
The history of the city of Leipzig is anchored in the City History Museum and is presented by means of contemporary testimonies at various locations.
The City History Museum of the City of Leipzig collects and preserves important testimonies of Leipzig's city history and presents them in the Old Town Hall on the market square and the neighboring Böttchergäßchen house. The children's museum is also located here.
The Old Town Hall is a landmark of the city of Leipzig and is one of the most beautiful Renaissance buildings in Germany. Visitors can discover the preserved remains of the old prison cells in the cellar, the historic rooms on the main floor and the town hall tower.
The current special exhibitions in the Böttchergässchen building can be found at www.stadtgeschichtliches-museum-leipzig.de.
In the children's museum "Museum macht Spaß" (Museum is fun), children discover the lively history of the Leipzig Trade Fair within the adventure exhibition "Kinder machen Messe". Numerous participation stations invite children on a journey through time, where they can dress up and exchange and sell goods with ancient currency . There are also creative activities where you can stamp, trace and emboss.
The City History Museum also includes the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, the FORUM 1813 as a museum dedicated to the Battle of the Nations, the Schiller House in Leipzig-Gohlis, the Sports Museum, the Old Stock Exchange and the Museum Zum Arabischen Coffe Baum.
