Church Machern

Church
Machern Church was first mentioned in 1121 as belonging to the diocese of Merseburg, and Machern became an independent parish church in 1268.

The church is characterized by a mixture of different stylistic periods. The choir with its irregular star vault was built around 1430, the nave around 1490. The sacristy was added in 1615 and the nave extended at the same time. The tower was raised as part of a renovation of the church in 1753, and the church was extensively renovated again in 1824.

The current organ was installed in 1875, at the same time as the nave was raised and extended again. In 1999, the organ was restored by Benjamin Welde from Olbersdorf.
