New building courtyard (Böttchergäßchen / Salzgäßchen)
The Neubau courtyard is located in the middle of a Leipzig residential building in the city center. The publicly accessible inner courtyard on the block of flats between Böttcherstraße and Salzgäßchen dates back to the GDR era and houses apartments as well as bistros and cafés.
The illuminated advertisement of the well-known Pinguin milk bar is emblazoned on the outer façade on the Katharinenstraße side. The logo is a listed building, as is the small bronze fountain in the inner courtyard from 1964. The façade of the four-sided building complex is supported with sandstone, while the window railings are decorated with mosaic panels.
