pedestrian zone
The passage of the King Albert House connects the market and the Barfußgäßchen via two inner courtyards.
The building and its passageway were built in 1913 based on designs by the architect Emil Franz Hänsel. Inside the building, two courtyards are connected by flat corridors. The architecture of the house incorporates numerous elements of Art Deco as well as elements of Art Nouveau and Classicism. The ground floor and mezzanine floors, clad in glazed ceramics, have a particularly high-quality appearance, giving the building its uniqueness.

On the ground floor you will find a variety of restaurants, which, together with the surrounding bars and restaurants, are known as the "Drallewatsch" pub mile. Furthermore, the Central Kabarett Leipzig has been based in the König-Albert-Haus since 2009.
