Gnandstein Castle – A castle like those from storybooks
Near the "pottery town" of Kohren-Salis rises Saxony's best-preserved Romanesque fortification: Gnandstein Castle near Leipzig. The von Einsiedel family lived here from the 14th century until the end of the Second World War - without ever giving up the keys to the castle. Keep, battlements, battlements, shield wall, palas: the fortress high above the Wyhra is a dream come true for medieval enthusiasts. When climbing up to the keep or in the late Gothic chapel, guests can truly feel the spirit of ancient times.
