Lutheran parish of Liebertwolkwitz

The original church building probably dates back to the 12th century, but was destroyed by fire in 1572. Between 1572 and 1575, the church that still stands today was rebuilt on the site of the medieval building.
During the Battle of Leipzig in 1813, the church was badly damaged and partially burnt down, but was later rebuilt. Cannonballs were embedded in the façade to commemorate the battle.
In 1724/1725, the church was given an organ by Zacharias Hildebrandt, a student of Gottfried Silbermann at the time. In 1890, Gottfried Hildebrandt built today's two-manual organ with 24 stops.
