Just outside Leipzig, the town of Markranstädt has developed into a first-class location for leisure, living and working.

In the heart of the Central German metropolitan region and just outside Leipzig, the town of Markranstädt has developed into a first-class location for leisure, living and working. A wide range of leisure and cultural activities, Lake Kulkwitz, a growing economy and an active club scene contribute to the town's positive image and reflect the motto "Markranstädt - with energy into the future".

Lake Kulkwitz, one of the oldest lakes in Leipzig's Neuseenland region, is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the region and one of the most important diving spots. In general, the lake is characterized by a good mix of activities and recreation. In addition to diving, you can also go water skiing, surfing, paddling, swimming and taking a sauna. According to the ADAC test from 2013, it is one of the three out of 41 lakes tested in Germany with the best bathing water quality and received the rating "very good".

The Sankt Laurentiuskirche church is located in the heart of Markranstadt. It is not only a place of worship for the Evangelical Lutheran parish, but is also open for concerts, e.g. the "Markranstädter Musiksommer" and exhibitions. Altranstädt Castle, in the district of the same name, is an excursion destination where history was once written with the "Altranstädt Peace" and the "Altranstädt Convention".
