The former schnapps distillery houses a permanent exhibition on the local history of Großzschepa. In the barnyard you can take a look at the agricultural machinery and equipment, such as threshing and drilling machines and grinders. Every year in June, the Museum Day offers a varied program.
The museum of local history is located in a former semi- hoofed farm. The museum has a separate small building and barn.
The small building was probably built in the 17th century. After renovation in 1989, it became a museum with a local history exhibition. 3,000 years of Zschepa history are on display thanks to varied exhibits.
The barn is about as old as the small museum and in parts the oldest surviving barn in Zschepa. It shows a collection of historic agricultural machinery and equipment dating from around 1850 to 1950, as well as an exhibition of farm household effects from 1900 to 1950.
Since 1997, there has been a museum day every year in June, and in August evening music can be enjoyed with wine and candlelight.
The museum is open all year round. There are no fixed opening and closing times, prior registration is advantageous. The owner and operator of the museum is the "Verein Heimatmuseum Großzschepa eV"
