Paltrock windmill Schkortitz

The Paltrock Mill celebrates its reopening on German Mill Day 2013 after it was dismantled in Wurzen-Roitzsch from 2009 to 2013, renovated and rebuilt in Schkortitz. The entire beams of the mill case and the ring rail were preserved and reused. The outer cladding, the floors and the roof cap are new. The interior has been restored to the older state when the mill was first mentioned in around 1836, i.e. all modernizations such as electric drives, transmissions, elevators, mixers and rolling mills have been dismantled and some have been set up as decommissioned equipment. Instead, a wind drive with louvre blades, vane shaft, comb wheel and a grinding gear with millstones were installed. This means that flour and meal can now be ground again using wind power.
