Belgern Town Museum

The Belgern Town Museum is housed in one of the oldest properties in the town, in the old smithy at Topfmarkt 7. Visitors can expect a veritable flood of historical information about Belgern in the main room on the first floor. The importance of the Elbe for the development of the town as well as crafts, agriculture, brewing, viticulture and the market are illustrated here, as are the jurisdiction and important coin finds from the area. Particularly worth seeing are a beer sign from 1783, which signaled the serving of beer in a property with brewing rights, the district court crucifix, donated by Mayor Kaulisch in 1681 and used in the municipal court until 1935, and the ark of the Döhnerwiesengesellschaft from the middle of the 18th century. You can also see the original lettering and coat of arms of the post office pillar.
