Taucha Municipal Museum
The Taucha Municipal Museum was founded in 1926 and was housed in the former hospital "Am Schmiedehöfchen". Due to the difficult economic situation, local history exhibitions could only be shown at intervals.
The museum was opened in conjunction with the first local history festival "Tauchscher" on September 3, 1933. Several relocations were necessary until the museum and its collection found a home in one of the town's oldest town houses - a former brewery at Brauhausstraße 24.
In 1977, the building was added to the list of county monuments and 10 years later was closed by the state building inspectorate due to its structural condition. Since 1990, extensive reconstruction measures have been carried out in accordance with the requirements of the monument protection authorities, which were completed in 1995.
In May 1995, the museum was opened with the children's library and museum restaurant complexes. Constantly changing exhibitions with a local history character as well as numerous special exhibitions offer visitors a varied spectrum.
In 2016, the city council of Taucha decided to tackle the project "Revitalization of the Taucha manor house into a cultural center" to the fullest extent. Following the successful move to the castle, not only has the newly designed permanent exhibition on the history of the town been realized since January 2023, but the entire museum, with a collection magazine, special exhibition areas and office and event rooms, has also been set up. In addition to the permanent exhibition, there are also changing special exhibitions to admire.
