The route from Grimma to Wurzen runs along a disused railway line, far away from roads, which is why this tour is ideal for family outings.
The starting point of the tour is the train station in Grimma. Passing Grimma Castle, you cross the Pöppelmann Bridge to the other side of the river bank, where the cycle path continues.
Halfway along the route is the lovely little town of Trebsen. There are many fruit trees along the way that invite you to snack.
Another highlight of the tour is Trebsen Castle. Here you can admire one of the greatest architectural achievements of the late Middle Ages: the cell vault made of multiply broken honeycomb ceilings.
One of the oldest castles in the German-speaking world is located in the center of Wurzen.
Wurzen offers other cultural highlights, such as the Ringelnatzpfad, the Krietschmühle or the old town hall.
