The route starts in Leisnig. On the marketplace, next to the town hall, the water playground “The Dancing Apples” is an enjoyable starting point for the younger route members.
The Podelwitz water castle is also worth a stop. Here you will find the local history museum, where you can discover a unique collection of regional history.
A highlight of the route is the ride with the historic cable ferry to Höfgen, the village of the senses. Information on departure times can be found here: grimma.de/kultur-und-tourismus/entdeckungen/muldeschifffahrt-und-faehre
From Höfgen you have two options: either you follow the “Path of Stones” to Grimma or you take the ferry back to the other riverbank and cycle downstream to the destination.

Directions
The bike ride starts at the station in Leisnig. From there you follow Bahnhofstraße to Johannistalstraße. At the next intersection, turn right into Chemnitzer Straße and arrive straight into the city center. The route passes the tourist information and the impressive St. Matthäi Church before you turn left into Schlossstraße. Soon you reach the well-known Mildenstein Castle, which majestically towers above the Mulde River. From there, continue straight ahead to Tragnitz, where you turn right into Fabrikstraße and shortly afterwards turn left again. The Mulde cycle path soon crosses a main road and continues straight ahead on the opposite side to Altleisnig. In Altleisnig, cross the bridge over the Freiberger Mulde and then keep left towards Wiesental and Marschwitz. At the outskirts, follow the cycle path left and continue via Tanndorf to Maaschwitz. Those who want to make a detour can cross the bridge here and reach the picturesque Podelwitz water castle, which is perfect for a short break. From Maaschwitz you cycle further downstream along the Mulde to Erlln. There at the outskirts, keep right and follow the path along the forest edge to Kössern. Past the Kössern hunting lodge, cross the bridge over the Freiberger Mulde, then turn right and follow the cycle path to Kleinbothen. Here, first turn left onto Marktstraße to the intersection with Badstraße. Then go left and soon right into a small side street. Those who feel like a short detour can continue straight on Badstraße and thus reach Großbothen. The Mulde cycle path now leads you via Schaddel directly to Nimbschen Monastery. Opposite, on the other side of the Mulde, lies the historic Höfgen ship mill – a worthwhile stop, which you reach by crossing the bridge shortly before the monastery. Past Nimbschen Monastery, continue finally to Grimma. Here, sights such as Gattersburg Castle, the Church of Our Lady and the St. Augustin Monastery Church line your way. At Grimma Castle, turn left onto the Pathe-Mulde cycle path, follow it for a while and then turn left again along the Wallgraben. After the roundabout, ride via August-Bebel-Straße onto Gerichtsweg and finally reach Upper Station Grimma, the destination of your ride.
