This route takes us into the past – to the time of castles and palaces. Embedded in a uniquely beautiful natural setting, they make up the fascinating Leipzig region.

Rochlitz Castle with its two towers “Lichte Jupe” and “Finstre Jupe” was built to secure the victory over the Western Slavs. Learn more about the castle’s history in a guided tour or by visiting the permanent exhibition. www.schloss-rochlitz.de

Colditz Castle not only tells a medieval story but also about the escape attempts of captured allied officers who were imprisoned there between 1939 and 1945. The castle is also the venue for the “Colditz Classic,” a series of classical concerts featuring a Blüthner grand piano. www.schloss-colditz.de

Mildenstein Castle, located on a spur above the Freiberger Mulde, is among the oldest castles in the Saxon settlement area. Besides exhibitions, guided tours, and events, you can actively participate in an interactive treasure hunt with an escape room and find the "One-Eyed Man’s Treasure." www.burg-mildenstein.de
