The approximately 45-kilometer section of the Zschopautalradweg leads from Frankenberg/Sa. along the Zschopau to Technitz.

Passing the Kriebstein reservoir, the Zschopautalradweg leads through one of the most beautiful natural areas in the Leipzig region. There are many opportunities for rest and discoveries along the way. Due to some very challenging sections, the Zschopautalradweg is especially recommended for experienced cyclists.

Directions

The route starts at the train station in Frankenberg and initially leads northwest on the Auenweg to Niederlichtenau. At the beginning of Niederlichtenau we turn right onto Merzdofer Straße and follow the cycle path to Merzdorf. Then it continues via Biensdorf, Krumbach, and Neusorge to Mittweida.

Behind the new cemetery in Mittweida, the route turns right onto Dreiwerdener Weg, which runs around the town center. Shortly after, for a section, we follow the course of the Zschopau and then switch to the opposite riverbank. Via Ringethal and Falkenhain we reach Kriebethal. Here, the reservoir and the impressive Kriebstein castle invite you to stop.

From Kriebethal we cross the Zschopau again and follow the river through Unterrauschental to Waldheim. A detour to the St. Nicolai town church and the Kellerberge is worthwhile here. The route continues via Diedenhain to Limmritz, then to Masten, before finally reaching our destination in Technitz.

In Technitz there is a connection to the Mulderadweg, for example to Döbeln to the train station.

It is possible to take bicycles on the ferries on the Kriebstein reservoir.
