Con Spirito Chamber Music Festival

The 6th season of CON SPIRITO will take place from 12 to 20 September 2026 under the title “Tacheles – Jewish Tunes of the Leipzig Romantics”.

As part of the chamber music series, concerts will be held in the historic homes and workplaces of those composers who significantly shaped Leipzig’s musical tradition. These include Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Johann Sebastian Bach, Edvard Grieg, Richard Wagner, as well as Clara and Robert Schumann.

Leipzig Festival of Lights

With the Prayer for Peace, the Speech on Democracy, the Leipzig Festival of Lights, and other events, 9 October commemorates the first major Monday Demonstrations in Leipzig, regarded as the beginning of the Peaceful Revolution in the GDR.

50th Leipziger Jazztage

The festival is one of the oldest and most renowned jazz festivals in Germany. Each year, Jazzclub Leipzig presents well over 100 musicians – big names and pioneers of jazz as well as innovative newcomers. Performances take place in the opera house, churches, and numerous scene clubs.

DOK Leipzig

International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film is one of the leading international festivals for artistic documentary and animated film. True to its tradition as a “window to the world”, it attracts thousands of visitors as well as filmmakers, producers, distributors and festival organisers to the Saxon metropolis every year.

Mendelssohn Festival Leipzig

Hardly any composer is as present in Leipzig’s contemporary culture as Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. As the Gewandhaus Kapellmeister, he shaped the orchestra’s repertoire and sound. The festival takes place every year around his day of death on 4 November and offers symphony concerts, chamber music, and discussion formats.

euro-scene (International Dance and Theater Festival)

The festival presents around 12 dance and theatre pieces from and about Europe and its global interconnections. The programme focuses on contemporary theatre and innovative dance, as well as new performative forms that aim to challenge on both content and formal levels. Particular attention is given to in-house and co-productions, as well as German premieres and world premieres.

Beethoven Festival
