Delitzsch Baroque Castle
First built as a medieval moated castle, the building served as a traveler's residence for Saxon rulers and as accommodation for the administrative offices of the sovereign.
The castle was first redesigned in the Renaissance style. After the division of the Saxon lands and the takeover of the Principality of Saxe-Merseburg, the castle was chosen as a dowager's residence for duchesses. The renewed reconstruction gave the ensemble its French character. From 1860, the residence was used as a women's prison for several years until the town of Delitzsch finally bought the castle and the museum moved in. The baroque castle also houses the tourist information office, a sound vault, the registry office and the district music school.
In addition, the 50-metre-high observation tower offers very good views. From the highest level of the tower, there is a wonderful view of the historic city center and the surrounding area. On a clear day, Leipzig and the Petersberg near Halle can be seen.
Museum in Delitzsch Baroque Palace
The princely, magnificently furnished living quarters of the Duchess Dowager of Saxe-Merseburg and the everyday life of the servants in Delitzsch Ladies' Palace are on display here. There is also information on the history of the palace and the town. The special exhibitions are dedicated to political and cultural history topics.
Strolling in the Baroque garden
The French-style pleasure garden, originally laid out in 1692 and 1693, now has a "parterre de broderie" again, which is reminiscent of embroidery with its brick-filled ornaments. The fan-shaped avenues of globe maples provide welcome shade in summer.
Dream wedding in the castle
Romantics can say "I do" in the baroque castle. In a special ambience, the wedding room is available for the civil ceremony and the baroque garden or the ducal audience hall make excellent photo backdrops for original wedding shots. If you brush the shoulder of the friendly Sterntaler figurine right at the castle entrance, luck will be on your side.

Directions & Parking facilities
- By public transport: From Leipzig main station, take the S-Bahn line S2 to Delitzsch, Unterer Bahnhof. From there it is a 15-minute walk through the city center via Eilenburger Straße, Breite Straße and Schloßstraße.
By car: Take the A9 to the Wiedemar exit and then follow the signs to Delitzsch. Alternatively, take the A14 to the Leipzig-Mitte/Delitzsch exit.
From Monday to Friday, free parking is available in front of the "Zur Schlosswache" restaurant (for a limited time) and in Rosental, and paid parking is available on the market square. At weekends, visitors can park free of charge in front of the baroque palace. Social Media
