Dölitz watermill Mühlpleiße

The Dölitz watermill is located on the picturesque Mühlenhof. The charming, historic mill yard has a history of over four hundred years. The main building of the mill and the neighboring Obermüllerhaus have been faithfully preserved since their construction in 1814. On the southern and eastern side of the courtyard there were once utility rooms and stables. In order to restore the courtyard complex to its historical style, two half-timbered houses from the southern Leipzig region were integrated at these locations. These buildings were professionally renovated and ecologically refurbished.

The non-profit association Grün-Alternatives-Zentrum Leipzig e.V. has been dedicated to the preservation of the watermill and the Mühlenhof since 1992. In addition, the association organizes a wide range of environmental education activities designed to contribute to sustainable education. The focus here is on renewable energies and demonstrating the connection between our own actions and the use of resources. There are also sheep, chickens and horses on the site, as well as a clay oven that is used for children's events.
