The Grassi Museum, which is part of the university, shows you how instrument makers have been searching for the perfect sound since the 16th century. The impressive craftsmanship and artistic skills can be experienced on the basis of around 5,000 treasures. This makes the Grassimuseum one of the largest collections of European musical instrument making.One of the most important exhibits is the oldest dated clavichord (1543) and the oldest fortepiano in the world preserved in its original condition (1726). You can also try out some of the instruments for yourself in the museum's sound laboratory.
