Königshauspassage (Am Markt)

  • Pedestrian zone
  • Retail
On the south side of Leipziger Markt is the Königshaus, whose arcade extends the building with a variety of stores.

The Königshaus am Markt owes its baroque façade to a renovation in 1706 and 1707. During the 18th century, Saxon rulers, in particular Augustus the Strong, regularly stayed here during trade fairs. Personalities such as Russian Tsar Peter the Great and Napoleon also stayed at the royal house.

In 1932, the Leipzig architect Curt Schiemichen integrated the passage into the building, which was converted into the Mustermessehaus.
