Museum of Prehistory and Early History
Two Bronze Age burial mounds near Frauwalde are evidence of an early settlement in the area. The Dresden State Office for Archaeology dates them to around 1,400 to 900 BC. In the permanent exhibition of the Museum of Prehistory and Early History (as the geoportal of the Porphyry Land Geopark), visitors can see finds from the Neolithic Age, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, the Sorbian settlement period and the German repopulation period. However, archaeological finds prove that the settlement history of the area goes back as far as the Paleolithic Age. Around 1844, Saxon geologists developed their theory of Pleistocene inland glaciation from the glacial striations discovered on Hohburg Hill.
Guided tours are offered to the Bronze Age burial mound and the rune stone at Höllenfurt.

By public transport: From Leipzig main station, take the RE50 to Dahlen. In Dahlen change to bus line 819 to Dahlen, bus station continue with bus line 662 to Frauwalde. The destination is about 240 m away on foot.
By car: Take the B6 to Goethestraße in Wurzen. Take Torgauer Str., Falkenhainer Ch, S23, Schildauer Str. and Frauwalder Str. to Erlenweg in Lossatal.
