The oldest baroque building in Leipzig is the Old Stock Exchange on the Naschmarkt. After its construction in 1678, the Old Stock Exchange served for 200 years as a meeting place where deals were concluded, auctions were held and bills of exchange were traded. In 1886, the Old Stock Exchange was replaced by a larger building on Tröndlingring by the Chamber of Commerce. Since then, concerts, readings, theater performances, lectures, congresses and private and public parties have taken place in the Old Stock Exchange. The Old Stock Exchange is still a popular event location today. The simple and stylish hall has space for 200 people.
