Leipzig Railway Museum - Museum on the move

  • Museum/art collection
  • Railway/narrow-gauge railway
The Leipzig Railway Museum invites you to marvel and ride along.
The Leipzig Railway Museum offers pure nostalgia and hands-on contemporary history for railroad fans and technology enthusiasts.

The special thing about this museum is that parts of the exhibition are not just exhibits, but actual machines on the tracks. Fascinating railroad experiences and attractive destinations can be discovered with a museum train on a variety of extraordinary special trips and events.

The "Museum on the move(s)" runs with a class 52 8154 steam locomotive and passenger carriages from the 1960s and 1970s. Regional delicacies can be enjoyed in the generously sized compartments during the journey.

The permanent exhibition also includes two other class 52 steam locomotives, additional passenger carriages from the 1960s and 1970s, small diesel locomotives, ancillary vehicles and a variety of auxiliary equipment, including a functioning water crane and a centrally controlled station clock.
