Scheibe organ in the Nikolaikirche Zschortau

Johann Scheibe (c. 1675 - 1748), presumably born in Zschortau, was also a master organ builder at the University of Leipzig from 1710 until his death in 1748. 1744 - 46 he built the organ in Zschortau on behalf of the patron Heinrich August Sahrer von Sahr. I/13 On August 7, 1746, J. S. Bach inspected the organ and found "everything efficient, diligent and well built". In 1870, the organ was moved to a second gallery and extended with a second manual. In 1954, the second gallery was removed and the organ was moved back again. In 2000, the organ was thoroughly restored and reconstructed to its original state.
