Schmidt organ in the village church of Klinga

Christian Schmidt (1685 - after 1748) is documented as an organ builder in Taucha near Leipzig. He probably received his training from his father Andreas Schmidt (? - 1725). The contract to build the Klinga organ was concluded on August 2, 1743. I/12 Although it was rebuilt in the 19th century, this organ is an important counterpart to the type of organ shaped by Gottfried Silbermann in Saxony. A dedicated support association has set itself the task of dismantling the repairs and alterations, some of which were inadequate, and reconstructing it as authentically as possible to its last self-contained state.
