Zweinaundorfer Park, Mölkau city estate

The city estate, which was already mentioned in the 14th century, is located on the eastern outskirts of Leipzig. This piece of countryside, which underwent its first extensive landscaping between 1730 and 1760, was transformed into an English park and was one of the most popular excursion destinations for Leipzig's citizens.

During the Battle of Nations in 1813, Zweinaundorf and its park suffered some damage. The estate buildings had to be rebuilt. The manor house was also renovated in 1869. However, the buildings, park and stables have not always been treated with care over the years. During the GDR era, the grounds were in a rather dismal state. The tide turned with reunification in 1989. The old path system and the stables were gradually repaired and the manor house was also restored in line with its listed status.

Today, the 21-hectare site with its woodland and meadows, newly created ponds, the manor house with restaurant including many leisure activities and the extensive domestic animal park is worth a visit at any time of year.
