Hidden Leipzig: Observation tower in the Rosental valley

All of Leipzig is blooming and green and the sun is peeking through more and more often - spring is here again. Finally time for long walks in one of Leipzig's numerous parks. The Rosental is not only the largest lawn in the city, its viewing tower offers you a breathtaking view over Leipzig.

A shaky affair

Want even more views? Then climb the small hill near the sewage treatment plants on the Parthe. Inconspicuous and hidden between trees and bushes, you will find a staircase that zigzags up to a height of 20 meters. Once you have climbed the steps of the steel structure, you will have a stunning view over Leipzig. No roof restricts the unobstructed panoramic view over the city. However, you should check the weather forecast before visiting, as there is no protection from the sun, wind or rain.

No streetcar will take you to the viewing tower and you ll also look in vain for a parking space. So why bother walking or cycling to the viewing platform? As soon as you feel the first gust of wind, you will realize why a visit to the viewing tower is a very special experience. The tower is not popularly known as the Wackelturm for nothing. Even the slightest gust of wind can cause the platform to shake. Hold on tight! Other viewing platforms, such as the City Tower or the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, cannot offer you such an experience. While the competition offers you more of a view over the center of Leipzig, you have a naturally beautiful view of Leipzig and its surroundings from the Wackelturm. And it's free of charge too!

View into the zoo

Nowhere else in Leipzig do you have so much space to go jogging, play badminton, fly kites or simply relax. You can even say hello to the giraffes at Zoo Leipzig . Because the so-called zoo showcase offers you an insight into the enclosure of the long-necks.
