Donati organ in the Ev.-Luth. Christopheruskirche Böhlen

The brothers Christian Gottlob (1732 - 1795) and Gotthold Heinrich Donati (1734 - 1799) are recorded as the builders of the organ in Böhlen. They belong to the widely ramified organ building family Donat, which was founded by Christoph Donat (1625 - 1706). Johann Jacob (1663 - 1732), son of Christoph, Italianized the name Donat to "Donati", which all other members of the family adopted. The brothers Christian Gottlob and Gotthold Heinrich Donati worked together in Altenburg from 1770 to 1794. They built the Böhlen organ in 1794. I/10
As the documents show, the organ had a pitch of a' - 473 Hz. The current pitch corresponds to a' - 440 Hz.

Disposition
 
After several repairs and alterations, the organ has today
recovered its original disposition.
