Eilenburg City Park

The city park in Eilenburg includes the zoo, a playground and the swan pond and was founded in 1870 by Wilhelm Ferdinand Mitscherlich. The total area is 12 hectares and offers peace and relaxation in a central location. The tree population is between 1200 and 1300 specimens. The Rosarium, which is located right next to the train station, was created in 1932/1933 as part of a job creation scheme during the Great Depression. The idea for its design is said to have come from Edwin Köhler, who later became the city gardener for many years.
