Podelwitz village church

The church in Podelwitz was first mentioned in writing in a deed of donation in 1250, although Romanesque building elements have been preserved. In the late 15th century, the church underwent a Gothic conversion with the extension of the choir and the installation of a net vault, and today the interior of the church is dominated by a triple-winged altar from 1520, which was restored at the beginning of the 21st century. Significant furnishings include a richly decorated pulpit from 1594, painted galleries from the 17th/18th century and an organ by Johann Gottlob Mende from 1841, which has been restored and extended several times. A modern relief from 2012 commemorates the victims of war and violence in the 20th century. The approximately 40-metre-high church tower with its slender spire features historic oak beams and bells with inscriptions dating back to the Thirty Years' War.
