Silbermann organ in St. Mary's Church Rötha

Gottfried Silbermann (1683 - 1753) had already built a two-manual organ in the St. Georgenkirche in Rötha in 1721. Three days after the consecration of the organ, Baron von Friesen commissioned Silbermann to build a new organ for St. Mary's Church. Originally without an independent pedal stop and with only 9 stops, Silbermann extended the specification to include a 16' Subbass and a 1 3/5' Terz.The consecration took place in 1724. In 1942, the organ was removed due to severe structural damage to the church and stored in St. George's. Since 1958, the organ has been back in the renovated St. Mary's Church. In 2005, a thorough restoration was carried out by organ builder Ekkehard Groß.
