A short-cut to the former New Theatre at Augustusplatz was created with the construction of the Theatrepassage.

The Theaterpassage was created as a short-cut to the former New Theatre at Augustusplatz (today's opera house) and connects Goethestraße with Ritterstraße. The narrow arcade was integrated into the Kroch Tower in 1927/1928, which was the first high-rise building in the city of Leipzig at that time.

Since then, the former bank has represented the new eastern entrance to the arcade and one of the numerous dominating city landmarks which, with its eleven storeys, defines Augustusplatz.
