University courtyard (Grimmaische Straße)

The elongated, spatial center of the campus grounds is located in the inner courtyard of Leipzig University. The so-called Leibnizforum was named after Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, one of the university's most famous alumni. The monument by sculptor Ernst Julius Hähnel forms an interesting contrast to the ultra-modern rear of the Paulinum and commemorates the German philosopher.

The inner courtyard is surrounded by the Neues Augusteum and Paulinum as well as the institute, seminar and lecture hall building. Since 2009, the new Leipzig University building has also had its own row of stores. The courtyard is only partially/temporarily accessible.
